GCISD Run-Off Race

June 13, 2018.

The Battle Lines Have Never Been Clearer for GCISD Run-Off Race

If you live in Grapevine Colleyville School District and you want to push back against progressive activism in our schools, you need vote for Amy Putnam on Saturday. Push back against the out-of-control tax hikes, indoctrination of our students, and the Culture of Voting effort to block vote against Republicans who are demanding property tax reform. The lines have never been clearer. Just look at who is supporting each candidate.

Amy Putman in her own words on why she is running.

I also want to restore accountability and transparency to the district. Rather than continue to point fingers at the state Legislature and other government entities when it comes to the tax problem, I believe we need to own and work on our end of the problem. The board is 100 percent responsible for setting the tax rate, controlling the ‘revenue’ and ultimately how much we pay in taxes. The district should pass a formal resolution demanding an end to Robin Hood in the next legislative session, but also start a public discussion about our own spending and debt management practices. That’s something you never hear today. There is just a demand for more and more taxpayer money when the results haven’t proven we are making the best use of what we have today.”

In the last election this race came down to just four votes! Your vote matters!

June 16 Election Day (Sat) - 7am - 7pm at either Bransford Elementary, The REC or the Hurst Public Library.

Pushing Back On Abbott's School & Firearm Safety Action Plan

May 31, 2018.

There are serious issues with Gov. Abbot’s proposed Gun Storage Law.  We must make a joint effort to push back NOW before these go any further...

Issue #1 - Gov. Abbott’s Proposal Creates a De Facto Mandatory Storage Law and Makes Every Gun Owner a Potential Felon

***There are already laws in place that make it illegal for a child under 17 to gain access to a readily dischargeable firearm.

***The current law requires that a parent and/or gun owner take steps to keep loaded (readily dischargeable) weapons secure by means or a trigger lock, safe, or lockbox.

***Abbott’s proposal increases the penalty from a class C misdmeanor to a felony, increases the age to 18, and increases the standard to simply making any firearm, loaded or not, accessible.

***This would mean that any parent who did not keep any and all firearms locked at all times, in any place their child goes to that they know there are firearms, would face potential felony charges.

Issue #2: Gov. Abbott’s Proposal Makes It a Potential Felony to Store a Gun in Your Car

***The current law applies outside the home as well.

***The proposed changes would make a gun owner subject to felony charges if they had a weapon (loaded or unloaded, even if it is simply being transported) in their car that was then stolen by someone under 18 who then used that firearm to injure himself or another person.

Issue #3: Gov. Abbott’s Proposal Will Make It a Potential Felony to Make Firearms Accessible to You or Your Property-Trained Teenagers in Case of an Emergency

***Mandatory storage requirements potentially increase the danger to properly trained children who are faced by an attacker or other danger and need to protect themselves.

***Providing a responsible, mentally sound, properly trained teenager with the combination to a gun safe in case of emergency would open a parent up to felony charges.

Issue #4: Gov. Abbott’s Proposal Effectively Outlaws Unsupervised Shooting by Anyone Under the Age of 18, Regardless of Training or Ability

***Many children are involved in shooting sports. If those children are allowed to practice without supervision, and injure themselves because of malfunction or accidental discharge, their parents would become felons under Abbott’s proposed law.

PLEASE CALL OR WRITE GOV. ABBOTT’S OFFICE AND TELL HIM YOU DISAGREE WITH HIS PROPOSAL TO MAKE POTENTIAL FELONS OF LAW-ABIDING GUN OWNERS WHO KEEP FIREARMS FOR SELF-DEFENSE.
