Gio Joins The Swamp

January 17, 2018.

Giovanni Capriglione wants you to re-elect him for a fourth term. Before you do that, ask yourself... what has Gio done for you in District 98? What has he done for Texas? Our district has some of the highest property taxes in the nation, and they keep getting higher. Why did he vote against the tax relief that Governor Abbott proposed? Republicans completely control the Texas House. They could have gotten anything they wanted. Don't let them lie to you. So, why have your property taxes gone sky high under their watch? Look at your property tax bill from six years ago when Gio was elected and compare it to your last tax bill.  What do you see?

Why do illegal aliens still get in-state tuition in Texas universities? The Texas GOP has complained about it for years and yet the House has done nothing. Why haven't the magnets which lure illegal aliens here in the first place been turned off? What meaningful immigration reforms beyond a sanctuary city bill have been passed? The officials who these run sanctuary cities feel free to openly flout the law. Why? Because they know that the corrupt special interests who run the Austin swamp will do ABSOLUTELY NOTHING TO STOP THEM.

The Austin swamp's main priority is protecting a small elite of crony capitalists and making sure their pet projects are well-funded with our tax money. Gio has excelled in this. Just look, for example, at his votes for the Texas Enterprise Fund which gave $40million to Sematech (who then left Texas anyway).  Don't forget Gio and his ilk worked overtime to sabotage Governor Abbott's reforms. The small clique that runs the Texas House has learned how to give conservative voters just the bare minimum to stave off a full-on taxpayer revolt. Stop accepting crumbs from the Establishment and vote these people out!

Gio's voting record has tanked with every genuine watchdog group that tracks the Texas House. Have you ever heard of a politician who started down that path and then improved? We haven't either. Does this feel like a guy who is fighting the swamp....who's fighting to save Texas...who is fighting like hell to keep it from turning blue? He could have, but he isn't. Gio isn't fighting the swamp; Gio is the swamp.
